interstellar (2014) watch
man that shit sucked lmao
live reaction on plurk but it still irritates me a day later
one, largely because hollywood movies have that broad This Sucks in general. the cast should be uglier, the characters uglier. wiki says the writing started in 2007 (didn't release until '14) which coincides with the 07-08 writers strike and god can you tell!! development hell.
two (etc.): everyone should be brawling in the dirt more (the siblings, protag and his crewmates), nolan isn't remotely subtle but in a "god this sucks" way, the movie needed to be stylized 50000% more. lean into that dust bowl aesthetic!!!!!!!! pull a wizard of oz! space should be the wowing factor. the special effects were. not remotely interesting (except for two seconds in the third act and then that even fell apart).
i hate snarky robot characters so much!!! so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! screaming!!!
(there are only a few exceptions but only because the writers know what the fuck they're doing)
but i will admit i liked the design. wasted on this movie.
uggghhh what annoying world building and lore dump. the thesis not supported by the evidence. conceptually a cool movie. execution absolutely not.
